Become 'Little Miss or Mr Highly Effective' with Just a Bite Better
Ready to become little miss “Highly effective” when it comes to forming healthy food habits? Look no further. Amanda here.
"The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R. Covey is a self-help book that explores the essential habits and principles for personal and professional success. Here, I'll quickly introduce Covey's ideas to make you the most effective you!
The first three habits – be proactive, begin with the end in mind, and put first things first – focus on personal responsibility and self-management.
You can be proactive by starting the process today. Right now. How? Begin with the end in mind and decide why you want to change your eating habits. Do you want to lose weight? Gain weight? Combat disease? Eat more ethically? You need to know your goal before deciding your nutrition strategy to accomplish that goal.
Once you have decided on your goal and nutrition strategy, you will need to start changing your habits related to food. To change your habits, awareness is the key. The easiest way to stay aware is to put first things first and register with Just a Bite Better. After registering, start sending messages about the food you eat. On my side, I will keep track of it over the weeks and months so you can stay aware over time and start creating your healthy habits.
The next three habits require you to think win-win and seek first to understand.
To change your habits, you must first seek to understand them. This allows you to become more aware of what is driving your behavior and make conscious decisions about changing them. By analyzing your habits, you can identify patterns you may be unaware of and adjust them to improve your well-being and productivity. Additionally, understanding your habits can help you become more self-aware, which can help you make more informed decisions and better manage your emotions.
Understanding your own habits is critical to start making change, but how do you begin understanding your food habits? Data! I've got you covered. When you tell me what you are eating, I will store it in a running log. Logging is simple with Just a Bite Better, so once you create the habit of logging, you won’t have to seek far to understand! You'll begin to identify patterns in your eating and understand when and why you are indulging in these habits. This will help you identify where you need to make changes.
Awareness in the moment and over time is a win-win.
The final habit – sharpen the saw – focuses on continuous self-improvement and renewal.
This is where setting reminders with Just a Bite Better can help. We will remind you each day to keep sharpening the saw by logging day-by-day. Start small by creating attainable habits; then, bite by bite, you can reassess, improve, and renew!
Overall, the book offers a comprehensive framework for developing the habits and skills necessary for success in all areas of life. It is based on the idea that our habits shape our character and ultimately determine the quality of our lives.
