Nutritionist V.S Dietician, What's the Difference?

Amanda from JaBB and Nutrition

A dietician is a healthcare professional who specializes in the science of nutrition and the relationship between food and health. Dieticians work with clients to develop personalized nutrition plans that support their health goals and needs. This can include helping clients with weight loss or weight management, managing chronic health conditions such as diabetes or heart disease, and providing guidance on making healthier food choices.

Some of the ways a dietician can help their clients include:

  • Assessing their nutritional needs and developing a personalized nutrition plan
  • Providing education and guidance on healthy eating habits and making informed food choices
  • Monitoring their progress and making adjustments to their nutrition plan as needed
  • Helping clients manage chronic health conditions through dietary interventions
  • Providing support and motivation to help clients stick to their nutrition plan

Overall, a dietician can play a crucial role in helping clients improve their overall health and wellbeing through evidence-based nutrition advice and support.

A nutritionist is a healthcare professional who specializes in the science of nutrition and the relationship between food and health. Like a dietician, a nutritionist can work with clients to develop personalized nutrition plans that support their health goals and needs.

In addition, a nutritionist may also be able to provide specialized services such as sports nutrition or nutritional support for individuals with eating disorders. Like dieticians, nutritionists play a crucial role in helping clients improve their overall health and well-being through evidence-based nutrition advice and support.

As for me, Amanda, I am neither a dietician nor a nutritionist. I don’t:

  • Assess nutritional needs
  • Develop nutrition plans
  • Help manage chronic health conditions

I do help you AND your dietician or nutritionist:

  • Monitor your progress
  • Provide support and motivation to help you stick to your nutrition plan
  • Give your dietician or nutritionist an easy way to see your progress and provide much more relevant guidance
